Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PrepRyt (“PrepRyt”, “we”, “us”) is operated by PrepRyt Labs Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, India. This policy applies to the PrepRyt web app and covers students, mentors, and administrators who use it.

2. What we collect

Account information

• Name, and either a phone number (students, verified by OTP) or an email address (mentors, admins).
• A securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text, and no PrepRyt employee can view it).
• For students: your target exam(s), attempt year, and exam date — used to scope your study material and countdowns.

Study activity

• Mock test and practice attempts, your answers, scores, and time spent — this is what powers your mastery heatmap, streaks, and predicted rank.
• Bookmarks and folders you create.

Device and session data

• IP address, browser/device user-agent string, and a best-effort city-level location derived from your IP at each login — used for account security (for example, so we can show you your own recent login activity) and to enforce a single active session per account.
• A device identifier stored in your browser so we can distinguish devices when you choose “remember this device”.

Communications

• A one-time password (OTP) is generated for phone verification and login. It is hashed before storage and expires shortly after being issued; we never log the code itself anywhere retrievable.

3. What we don't do

• We don't sell your personal data.
• We don't run payments through PrepRyt yet — there is no card/payment processor integrated today, so we hold no payment card data.
• We don't show advertising or share your activity data with advertisers.

4. Third parties we use

We don't share your account data with any other third party except where required by law.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use one functional cookie (auth-storage) to know whether you're signed in and route you to the right part of the app, and your browser's local storage to hold your session tokens. Neither is used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

6. Who can see your data internally

Authorized PrepRyt staff (admins) can view account status, enrollment, and aggregated activity (for example, test scores and recent login activity) for support, moderation, and security purposes — the same information you can see about your own account. We log admin actions that change account state (suspending an account, granting premium access, etc.) for accountability.

7. Data retention & deletion

We keep your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing support@prepryt.com — we'll confirm once it's done. Some records (for example, security audit logs) may be retained longer where needed for fraud prevention or legal compliance.

8. Students under 18

Most PrepRyt students preparing for JEE/NEET are minors. We collect only what's described above — no precise location, no contacts, no payment data today. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions about your child's account, contact us at the email below.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or ask what we hold about you, by emailing support@prepryt.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

10. Changes to this policy

If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, notify you in-app.
